MILE MARKER 69.5 - LONG KEY, FLORIDA
HOW TO GET THERE:
The highway, U.S. #1, is the key to the trip down, our resort lies just off this road, as most things do in the keys, next to an island named "Long Key". This island is situated at the half-way point between Miami and Key West, putting it about 80 miles from Miami or about 1 &1/2 hours of drive time.
Leaving the U.S. mainland at Florida City, on "U.S. #1", drive south. Most addresses in the keys are based on a mile marker system. Mile markers, (road signs), are posted along the highway every mile, (imagine that), and they decrease as you travel away from the mainland.
As you travel south you'll pass the "Holiday Isle Motel," MM 84 (on your left), the community of ISLAMORADA, "Papa Joe's Restaurant," MM 80 (on your right), and the "Caloosa Cove Hardware and Marina," MM 73(on your left).
You are now on your final approach to Long Key. You will soon come to a high bridge, (the channel 5 bridge), immediately after the bridge is the Fiesta Key KOA campground, (right side), and about 200 yards past the campground you will see Sea Bird Marina on the right hand side of the road. Turn-on your left turn signal when you see Sea Bird Marina because we are just a few feet further on the left. Look in your rear view mirror to make sure no one is tail-gating you, or trying to pass, as the entrance to Oceanside Isle is just ahead. Make a left turn at our sign and mailbox.
